MATRIBHASHA DIWAS

Matribhasha Diwas was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 21 February 2016. The programme started with lighting of lamp and prayer. Students from classes VI to X and faculty members presented poems, songs, famous quotes and dialogues in various regional languages namely Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Sindhi, Haryanvi, Bhojpuri, Hindi, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Sanskrit, Malayalam, Kannad etc.The programme helped students in understanding and using the indigenous languages of India.

PROJECT - ELIMINATION OF CHILD LABOUR IN SOCIETY

As per the guidelines of the CBSE, the project ‘Elimination of Child Labour in Society’ was undertaken by Interact Club. As a part of the project, on 30 July 2015 a Poster Making Competition was organised for students of classes VI to VIII. For classes IX and X a Slogan Writing Competition was held on 5 August 2015. Also, a survey tool, that is, a Questionnaire was developed and administered by selected student-volunteers to understand and asses the conditions of Child Labourers in their respective neighborhood. Students gathered data regarding their education, personal circumstances, earnings, health conditions and aspirations. Results are awaited.

CBSE EXPRESSION SERIES

CBSE Expression Series, the ‘Writing Series’ started in July 2015 for the academic session 2015 - 16. The focus of the series this year is on contributions of great leaders of India; and several issues related to women, society and nation. Students of different departments uploaded their articles on the topics suggested each month by the Board, in their respective categories. The Expression Series in August focused on Shivaram Hari Rajguru, Major Dhyan Chand and Govind Vinayak Karandikar; while in October, life, actions and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi were given as topics.

AAVISHKAR QUIZ SERIES

Selected students of classes IV to XII have been participating in CBSE initiated Aavishkar Quiz Series, a monthly theme-based Quiz series w.e.f. July 2015. Stage 1, of the Quiz is held in the school in the first week of each month wherein the Quiz is framed by teachers as per the guidelines of CBSE. The top 2 students of Stage 1 from each department appear for the Stage 2 which is an Online Quiz, conducted by CBSE, in the last week of each month. The themes given by the CBSE for July, August and September were – Creativity and Innovation in Mathematics, Science and Technology; Water and Soils; and Habitats respectively.

ADMINISTERING OATH ON INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

Delhi Government declared 1 October 2015 as the ‘International Day for Senior Citizens’ to inculcate “feelings of love and care amongst students towards elderly people”. Following the guidelines, all the students of the school were administered the oath forwarded by the Directorate of Education on 1 October 2015.

ADDRESS BY HON’BLE PRIME MINISTER

The school made the required arrangements on 4 September 2015, to view the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s live address to school children, on television.

SANSKRIT WEEK CELEBRATION

The school celebrated ‘Sanskrit Saptah Samaroh’ from 26 August 2015 to 01 September 2015 to inculcate interest among students for the classical language Sanskrit.

•Mantra Lekhan Pratiyogita was organised on 26 August 2015 for the students of classes VI to VIII. Students were asked to write Mantras from Ishawasyoupanishad. Further they translated the same in Hindi which helped to reinforce the value being imparted through the selected Shloka.

•Shloka Gyan activity was held on 27 August 2015 for students of middle department. Melodious renditions of ‘Neeti Shlokas’ were presented by the participants. These helped to impart values to the students.

•Nibandh Lekhan Pratiyogita was organised for the students studying in VI to X on 28.08.2015 on topics specified in CBSE circular. Three best essays, both from junior and senior were sent to CBSE to celebrate Sanskrit Week.

•Special Morning Assembly was held on 31 August 2015 by the senior department. Students sang Shloka, Geet and Bharat Vandana in Sanskrit.

•Screening of Film in Sanskrit A classical Sanskrit film named, ‘Adi Shankaracharya’ was shown to the students of class VI – X through Smart Board on 01 September 2015.

RASHTRIYA AVISHKAR ABHIYANY

Under the RASHTRIYA AVISHKAR ABHIYAN (RAA), an initiative of CBSE, a written Quiz on Science and Mathematics, on the theme "Creativity and Innovation in Mathematics, Science and Technology" was conducted on 9 July 2015 in the school premises for selected students of Primary, Middle and Secondary Departments.

Top two winners from each department were-

• Kabir Jaggi (V-D) and Aryan Garg (V-B)

• Mrinal Anand (VIII-H) and Sarthak Gupta (VII-E)

• Pallav Mittal (X-D) and Apoorv Goel (XII-D)

A Report on conducting the Quiz including its results was uploaded on the CBSE website.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

World Environment Day was celebrated in the school on 7 July 2015. It included the following :
PR CAMPUS: A cultural event was organised to sensitize students towards the need to save environment. In addition to other items, the programme included an enactment of a short story on harmful effects of Polythene Bags on environment. Poster making & Slogan writing activities were also organised and the Best entries were displayed. Interactive sessions on “Measures to Save Environment” were conducted in classrooms by the respective class teachers.

PRIMARY DEPARTMENT (GR): Students of classes IV & V had sessions on Threats to Environment which was followed by a discussion to curb the same. Slogan writing competition was organized on ‘Save our Planet’. A Pledge to protect the environment was taken by all.

MIDDLE DEPARTMENT: A Poster making competition on ‘Save Energy and Protect the Environment was organized. Additionally ‘Best out of Waste’ activity also held.

SENIOR DEPARTMENT: An essay writing competition ‘Role of Wildlife Sanctuaries in Protecting Wildlife’ was held.

 

MATRIBHASHA DIWAS

The school celebrated Matribhasha Diwas on 21 February 2015 to highlight the importance of using mother tongue in our day to day activities and communication. Students of the Middle department presented a skit consisting of dialogues in Tamil, Punjabi and Hindi languages. Through the melodious rendition of a poem and a folk song, the benefit of using our own mother tongue was emphasized. The programme concluded with distribution of books amongst all participants. We have decided to celebrate Matribasha Diwas in the school annually.

GANIT (Growing Aptitude in Numerical innovation & training) WEEK

Ganit week was celebrated from 16th Dec 2014 to 22nd Dec 2014.Numerous activities were conducted related to mathematics.

  • On 18 Dec. Maths Quiz was conducted for Class VI to VIII in which Question based on logical reasoning & Mathematical aptitude were asked in different rounds.
  • A Poster Making Competition was conducted for the students of class XI. Topic of the poster was "Expressing social message using Mathematical shapes & symbols ".

CBSE SANSKRIT WEEK CELEBRATION

Sanskrit week was celebrated in the school from 7 to 13 August 2014 under the able guidance of the Sanskrit Faculty namely Dr Ms Menka Sharma, Dr Ms Sunita Gehani, Ms Poonam Sharma and Dr Ms Jyotsana Srivastava. Following activities were undertaken:-

  • Shabdanam Vatriksham Competition was held in the Middle Department on 7 August 2014. Students identified the Sanskrit words that are being used in other Indian and foreign languages
  • Shloka Gayan Competition was held on 8 August 2014 for students of class VI to X. Twenty five students sang various shlokas from Nitishatak, Bagvadgita, Madhurashatak etc.
  • Laghubashanam Competition was conducted on 9 August 2014, sixteen students of class VI to X spoke on various current topics.
  • Sanskrit Nrityam was conducted in the school assembly on 12 August 2014. An enthralling dance performance based on 'Bhavani-Ashtkam' was presented by the students of class VI-X.
  • Sanskrit Geetam, a melodious presentation of the song 'Bharat Bharati' was done on 13 August 2014 in the morning assembly. A Sanskrit song, Sanskrit play and Sanskrit Shloka were also presented in the morning assembly.
