Health and Wellness Club

Health & Wellness Club has been setup in the school as per the guidelines of CBSE. The club activities focused on creating awareness regarding various aspects that contribute to health and wellbeing of an individual, such as, 'Knowing your body', 'Being responsible and safe behaviour' etc. Presented below are the details of the activities undertaken during academic session 2012-13 that help to promote health, wellness and hygiene among students:

  • The 'World No Tobacco Day', designated by the World Health Organization (WHO), is observed every year on 31 May. As per the guidelines of CBSE, from 13 to 17 July 2015, the school organised a series of competitions, namely, Poster Making, Essay Writing, Nukkad Natak/Skit and Jingle/Songs on this theme. Students from classes VI to X participated in these competitions.
  • Two selected Posters and two selected Essays besides recordings of two Nukkad Nataks and two Jingles was sent to CBSE for evaluation. The school has been selected as one of the winners by CBSE for its excellent performance in the Nukkad Natak.
  • 'A Diabetes Information Kit: India', an initiative by Kids and Diabetes in Schools (KIDS), Health Related Information Dissemination Amongst Youth (HRIDAY) and Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) was distributed amongst teachers & students of classes IX to XII and their respective parents.
  • A Health and Wellness workshop was conducted in the school premises on the 4 March 2015 for students of class V by Ms Jasmine Anand, Health Educator from HRIDAY and Public Health Foundation of India. It brought to fore the facts related to balanced diet, importance of fruits and the ways to include these in our everyday diet. The talk supplemented by a PowerPoint Presentation was appreciated by all.
  • Students of IX & X participated in puzzle and online activities on Diabetes organized by HRIDAY, an NGO in October 2014. These activities focused on causes, control & prevention of diabetes.
  • On 10 October 2014, students participated in Poster Making, Declamation & Role Play activities organised at India International Centre to celebrate 'World Mental Health Day'. The event, an initiative of NPSC, laid emphasis on having 'Bullying Free Schools'.
  • 15 students actively participated in the workshop on 'Healthy Habits' organised by SANOFI. Doctors from SANOFI emphasized on the important vaccinations and healthy eating & living habits.
  • '17 Hepatitis Day' was celebrated on 4 December 2014 at the Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences (ILBS), Vasant Kunj. The theme was 'Towards a Hepatitis Free India by 2080'. Thirteen club members participated in various events like Poster Competition, Slogan Competition & Fancy Dress Competition. The event was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Sh Najeeb Jung.
  • The Club in collaboration with The Times of India organized a workshop on Organ Donation. Workshop was conducted by Ms Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director, Mohan Foundation and Dr Muneet, Senior Transplant Coordinator, with an aim to educate students about the need for organ donation.
  • M/s SANOFI Limited alongwith Public Health Foundation of India, HIRDAY, KIDS and International Diabetes Federation conducted an awareness workshop about diabetes which Ms Aarti Singhal (TGT French) alongwith Ritanshi Kankheri (X G) and Shrey Khandelwal (IX H) attended.
  • A puppet show was organized on 24 April 2014 for students of class VII by Sanofi India, a pharmaceutical company; and Enactus group of SRCC focusing on the topic 'Health and Sanitation'. The talk by Dr Vipul Jain included important and simple tips for healthy living.
  • Under the campaign 'Healthy Children Happy Children', a workshop was organized for class IX students by the NGO Hriday on 30 April 2014 highlighting the importance of consumption of whole grain in our daily diet. Students were acquainted with the importance of balanced diet, food pyramid, whole grain and its benefits. The workshop was followed by an interactive session.
  • Under the same campaign 'Healthy Children Happy Children'; another workshop was organized on 2 May 2014, wherein Dr Vipul Jain from Sanofi India and the resource trainer Mr Randolph Fernandez from Modicare foundation held a session for 15 selected students of the school and PGDAV, Patel Nagar. The various topics discussed were - Health, Obesity, Malnutrition, Junk Food etc. There were several indoor and outdoor activities which the children enjoyed immensely.
  • Club members of the Senior department prepared the club's Display board on the theme, Health and Sanitation.
  • A PowerPoint Presentation was shown to the students of classes VI & VIII through interactive boards to make them aware about the facts and symptoms of various disorders like LD, ADHD, Autism, Mental Retardation etc.
  • Club members of class IX made posters on 'Myths and Facts of Viral Hepatitis'. These were displayed in the Awareness Camp organised by ILBS (International Liver and Billiary Sciences) Vasant Kunj on 6 December 2013.
  • Hriday, an NGO orgainsed a competition on 'Adverse Effect of Alcoholic Advertisement on Youth'. Club members prepared one - minute videos on the same which were uploaded on the Facebook link on 24 December 2013. Result for the same is awaited.
  • Video presentations were shown to the members of Health and Wellness club to create awareness regarding 'Food Wastage' in August 2013. This was followed by a discussion on the ways in which food wastage can be prevented.
